Danielle specializes in international law and disputes management as well as sustainability practices. She brings extensive public sector experience as an international law expert, advising and leading negotiations across a wide range of matters including environmental and climate change, international trade and investment law, cyber, sanctions and compliance, anti-money-laundering and criminal mutual legal assistance, as well as disputes management.
Danielle leads on climate change law and policy issues at the Centre for International Law (CIL), National University of Singapore (NUS) and is an Adjunct Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, where she teaches a course on Environmental and Sustainability Management at the NUS’ MSc in Environmental Management Programme and an Adjunct Senior Fellow with the Centre of Excellence for National Security at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies. Danielle is also a senior advisor with a global strategy and commercial diplomacy firm. She is a member of the panel of arbitrators appointed under the UK-Singapore Free Trade Agreement and was formerly an alternate member of the Implementation and Compliance Committee established under the Paris Agreement. She currently serves as a Council Member of the Singapore branch of the International Law Association.
Danielle was formerly the Deputy Director-General of the International Affairs Division, Attorney-General’s Chambers, Singapore. She was lead counsel in multiple negotiations at the bilateral, regional, and global levels, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) and Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), Paris Agreement climate change talks, and in panel proceedings at the World Trade Organization (as third party). She also represented Singapore as an adviser in proceedings before the International Tribunal For the Law of the Sea in the Case concerning Land Reclamation by Singapore in and around the Straits of Johor (Request for Provisional Measures). She had previously served as the Deputy Chief Executive of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), overseeing the legal regulatory framework, operations, and IPOS’ international intellectual property policy and engagement. . She was formerly a member of the Genetic Modification Advisory Committee and the Intellectual Property Hub Master Plan Steering Committee in Singapore. Earlier in her career, she served as a District Judge, a Justices’ Law Clerk at the Supreme Court of Singapore, and a public prosecutor.
Danielle received an LLM with first-class honours from the University of Cambridge and an LLB with honours from the University of Bristol. She is admitted as Advocate & Solicitor (Supreme Court of Singapore) and Barrister-at-Law (England & Wales) (Middle Temple).
