Athene qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 201o. She embarked on her articleship in the Department of Justice working as a prosecutor and conducting advisory work and civil litigation in various seats. Since completion of her training, her practice has mainly been focusing on commercial and civil litigation. 

Athene has her law degree from Nottingham Law School (NLS) and her Master of Laws from the City University of Hong Kong. She also holds a Master of Corporate Governance from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. 

Athene is also an Associate (HKACG) of the Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute and an Associate (ACG) of The Chartered Governance Institute.
