Marissa is an Associate who has assisted in several prominent litigation and arbitration matters. Marissa also has experience in relation to employment and criminal matters.
Marissa graduated from the Singapore Management University (SMU) Yong Pung How School of Law in 2021, placing twice on the faculty’s Dean’s list. Whilst in school, Marissa was appointed as a research assistant to Dr Tham Chee Ho (author of “The Law of Contract in Singapore”) and Mr Mahdev Mohan. In recognition of her good results, Marissa was also appointed as a teaching assistant of SMU’s International Commercial Arbitration course.
Marissa represented SMU in a wide range of domestic and international mooting competitions. Amongst others, Marissa was ranked semi-finalist and the best memorial winner for the 2018 B.A. Mallal Moot Competition and the 2019 LAWASIA International Moot Competition respectively. Most notably, Marissa’s team appeared before Alex Layton KC and emerged as finalists at the PAX Private International Law Moot 2020. Following her graduation, Marissa has continued to coach several SMU moot teams to outstanding results.
Marissa is a member of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. She is one of the youngest candidates to have passed its International Entry Course.
Marissa is a prize winner of the Singapore International Mediation Institute (SIMI) Annual Mediation Essay Competition 2021, for her piece on incorporating psychological techniques to improve the efficacy of victim-offender mediation. Her work is featured in the SIMI publication, “Contemporary Issues in Mediation, Vol 7”.
Marissa is also passionate about pro bono work. In 2018, she received a commendation from the State Courts of Singapore for services offered to the Community Justice Tribunal Division. Notably, she was awarded SMU’s Service Award of 2021 (Bachelor of Laws Programme) for volunteering over 100 hours to pro bono services. Currently, Marissa volunteers her services to the Legal Assistance Scheme for Capital Offences.
