How Did the Different Companies in the EU Implement the New Data Protection Regulation?

In Europe, there was a lot of hype around the GDPR in the EU especially immediately before the date on which the regulation entered into force. With the approaching deadline (May, 2018), many companies were in a rush to implement the new rules. The hype was used and further intensified by various consultative agencies and law firms who wanted to sell their services to the market.

The information about the GDPR was flowing from everywhere and quickly reached an overwhelming volume. SMEs which are the majority of business enterprises in the EU were offered two options to choose from:

  1. Try and implement the GDPR rules themselves or;
  2. Rely on consultants to help them apply the necessary measures

The regulation, however, is a bit hard to understand for someone who is not experienced in the area and became notorious with its vague language. Small businesses struggled with understanding the new rules and some of them ultimately chose to avail of the services of consultants.

In Advomi, we decided to offer a different approach. Yes, the regulation may be challenging to implement and we know that. However, it is not nearly as complex as people are led to believe. Most companies can easily comply with the regulation if only it was offered to them in a comprehensible way with some ready-to-use solutions. So we created our GDPR Compliance Package to address this need. Our package was used by over a thousand SMEs in 2018.
